Description : The coastal route from Guisborough station/ Saltburn West Jnct, Through industrial East Cleveland With the famous zig zag line from Loftus mine the short Kiltonthorpe branch, Travelling south towards Whitby Town, Midway are the small steelworks at Skinningrove sat high above the North sea, Vastly rebuilt since the last release with a much more accurate layout The works fleet consisted of a variety of mainly 0-4-0 saddle tanks and laterly Rolls Royce Sentinel diesels. The ironworks are packed with interactive loading points for use with wagons in the ironworks pack or any hopper wagons with animated loads. A steeply inclined branch line with 2 reversals runs into the valley below to serve the ironstone mines and gasworks. The route winds in and out of the coast across cliff tops and viaducts almost dropping to sea level in Sandsend, I've now modelled both stations in Whitby, Most station yards have working coal drops and most of the mines are capable of filling wagons Set in the 50's/60's with mining, Brickworks, Gasworks and other industries in situ to give plenty scope for activities Will not overwrite the previous version of this route (Skinningrove Iron & Steel co/North Yorkshire Coast TS2016) Screenshots here if you wish to see what you are downloading - http://www.flickr.com/photos/54270350@N06/sets/72157630900927534/ Facebook page for the route - https://www.facebook.com/Whitby-to-East-Cleveland-for-Railworks-1094212613942366/ Part of Loftus mine survives as a museum http://ironstonemuseum.co.uk/ It tells of how the area South of the Tees kickstarted modern steelmaking, Steel manufactured with Ore from the mines of East Cleveland was used globally, The Sydney harbour bridge been a good example, Rail from Skinningrove spanned the globe, Winding through African jungles and across the deserts of Australia, The works pioneered rolling 120 foot Bullhead rail for the LNER mainlines, I still see rail rolled there in daily use on the NYMR, Most of the trackbeds and mine sites are still there to be walked, explored, On foot or in google earth and Skinningrove steelworks still operates as a specialised rolling mill but with an extremely rationalised railway, Only a few mile of railway are left South of Skinningrove to serve Boulby potash mine. I decided to build this route as a tribute to the forward thinking local industries that helped to create the modern world.
