| Description | : | This is a steam activity for the North Wales Coast Route – Version 2.
Today - 6th August 1962 - you are in charge of Stanier Pacific 46222 Queen Mary, on the 09.20 Crewe to Holyhead express. This was a regular turn for these fine engines - especially during the years leading up to their complete withdrawal.
You start at approximately 50mph inside Christleton Tunnel approaching Chester General, which is your first stop this morning. This train also calls at Prestatyn, Rhyl, Llandudno Junction, Bangor and Holyhead.
My thanks to Pilots, (Jim Ashman) and Mendes (Martin Pope), for testing this activity before release.
Installation
If you wish to install this activity into the original MSTS installation of NWC Version 2 – from the two original CD’s - just unpack the enclosed .apk file in the normal way.
If, however, you have purchased the UKTS version which installs into a Mini-Route, follow the instructions in the automatic installer – bearing in mind that you may have installed your mini-route onto a drive other than C:
I have pointed the installer to - C:nwc2_MiniRouteTrain Simulator – but you may have installed the Mini-Route onto an external drive like mine. If so, just amend the command line to point your own installation.
Notes
The activity was created on a PC running Windows 7 OS, using MSTS Patch 1.7.0929 and Tsection42UK.
It was inspired by a photograph of Queen Mary leaving Llandudno Junction in JR Carter’s “Footplate Cameraman” book, published by Ian Allen Ltd in1983.
I think all of the stock required to run this activity should be present within your existing NWC installation, with the possible exception of these extra UKTS files:-
UKTS_3571_Mk1RedAndCreamCoaches.v4.0
UKTS_9956_BR_LMSdesign_Cattle
UKTS_23234_Glasgow_Coronations
UKTS_25047- Patch (Unofficial): Patch for Mk1 Carriages
UKTS_28407_Spacers
If you experience any problems with this activity, please get in touch with me on the Forums.
Enjoy the drive.
