Description : The Highworth branch was 5 mile long branch line that once ran between the famous town of Swindon to Highworth, there were 3 intermediate stations at Stratton, Stanton and Hannington. It was opened in 1883 and ran passenger services until 1953 with freight continuing on the full length of the branch until 1962, when half of the branch was completely closed. Freight would still use the the other half from time to time in the early to mid 60's.
