Description : A scenario for Rail Simulator, set in the cold winter of 1962-3 Duration: about 1h 45 It is a very cold winter’s morning at York shed, and you are due to take a company oil train to Darlington on its journey to Teesside. But the booked Type 4 isn’t available so you have been allocated a 5MT ‘Black Five’ – your fireman is disgusted! I have tried to make your drive challenging: and with this weight of train keep your eye on the HUD for signs of wheelslip or falling boiler pressure. The scenario uses a number of freeware and payware add-on items: I make no apology for this, the scenario attempts to replicate the steam-diesel era as accurately as possible given the restrictions of the sim and the stock available. If you do not have the items required you can always substitute them using Mike Simpson’s excellent RS_Tools. The list of related files below show what files from UKTS you will need. I assume that most people interested in this era will have most if not all already: but note the inclusion of the 'Express to Siegen' scenario which is included for its incredible snow/fog weather pattern. If you do not want to install this scenario, you will need to use RS Kickstart to substitute another weather pattern but to be honest you're better off installing the Siegen scenario for the weather alone. In addition you will also need the payware class 08 add-on, plus the green 47/55 reskins from www.railsimulator.com; and the payware Digital Traction Mk1 carriage steam era add-on, plus the freeware BR brake van from www.digitaltraction.net.
