Description : Here is the first of my W.D. Loco's - the 2-8-0 of the 1940's. The intention was to have a design which could be built by several British builders and works, and which would involve only materials readily available, and also to have simplicity of design. Renewable parts were duplicates of those of the LMSR standard 8F Consolidation locomotives. The design was under the supervision of R.A.Riddles. In all 733 locomotives were produced - I never saw a clean one on the LNER around Chesterfield so this is probably as clean as they got !!
